Job Title: RN - Labor and Delivery

Duties

• Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data.
• Evaluate patient’s response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate competency in therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
• Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
• Provide patient/family education and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching.
• Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and diversity.
• Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel per State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
• Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective care.
• Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing practices.
• Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with patient/unit needs.
• Use standards of care, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
• Foster open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making within nursing and inter-professional teams.
• Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
• Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence.
• Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
  
  

Skills

• Minimum one year of experience preferred.
• Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty.
  
  

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
• State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification required.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) Certification or Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Certification required.
